Attempting the impossible...

I've been inspired to learn how to ride a (or is it "an"?) unicycle. During my trip to California, I was introduced to this sport, if you will, and I was immediately intrigued. Few of you know that my mother used to ride a unicycle back in the day. Yes, my mommy, the one who grew up running with the lions, climbing acacia trees, speaking a tribal language, herding the zebras, she can ride a unicycle and walk on stilts as well. A few years ago she bought a unicycle to get back into the hang of it. Cindy also bought one because if Mom could do it, surely she could. The "unicycle craze" lasted for a good 6 months and then fizzled out. But last week the craze was ignited once more as I saw an amazing guy riding a 6-foot unicycle and watched Phil learning how to ride the standard size. Tonight, I whipped out "the tire", put some air in that baby, and took her for a test ride, err...attempted to anyway. I used the neighbor's wooden fence as a railing. Not realizing I would be relying so heavily on a wooden fence, I didn't think about the potential splinters that my hand would incur. Along with a couple splinters, there are some black and blue bruises on my shins from knocking into the pedals. I was told that unicycling is a real work-out..hah! Come on, you're just pedaling A wheel. Folks, let me testify that this is no walk in the park. I was sweating after 15 minutes (gross i know, but such is life). I didn't get very far, but it was my first day of practice. It can only get better. Stay tuned for more on this topic...

Hey, I can walk on stilts too. Of course that was like 30 years and 50 lbs. ago.

I used to ride my neighbors unicycle. He had a slight incline by our house, so the going forward part wasn't too bad, it was the balance thing. Good luck! It sounds like fun.

That is certainly a unique little sport, but leave it to a Solomon to go for the different sport. Instead of biking, to you call it Uniking? Hmm, food for thought. Food for thought.
